Frequently Asked Questions

Why do I need an Interior Designer?

We are here to make your life easier!

Whether you need a little help or a lot, the advice and guidance of an interior designer is invaluable.

Having a professional interior designer guide you through the design process as well as providing the information and expertise for finding the right products and tradesmen you need to get the best result for your project is priceless. Working with an interior designer will also often help you prevent costly mistakes along the way.

The ultimate goal is to add beauty and value to your property, and that’s what we do best.

I am doing some renovations to my home. At what point should I engage an interior designer?

The sooner the better is the short answer.

By involving a designer in the initial planning stages, it can save you money and costly mistakes can be avoided. We can work with your architect &/or builder to incorporate the best design ideas at the planning stage.

What is the difference between an interior decorator and an interior designer?

We can provide the best of both worlds.

An interior decorator is generally someone who deals with finishes, furniture and decorative elements. An interior decorator is an aesthetic specialist and is skilled at dressing an interior with things like paint, furnishings and floorcoverings for visual effect.

An interior designer has undertaken a more specialised career field, studying the theory and practice of design in detail. Ultimately, an interior designer’s role is to create functional, comfortable and beautiful interior spaces that are fit for their clients’ purpose.

At Issy & H, we are internationally trained interior designers and have a good working knowledge of local construction practices and trades. We also love decorating so can help whatever your project.

Can you give me a quote over the phone?

A consultation is the first step in the process.

It’s very difficult to quote on a project without having seen your home or apartment. Only once an initial consultation has been had and we have spoken to you in detail regarding your brief, can we provide an accurate fee proposal specific to your requirements. Please see our Services Page for an idea as to how we charge.

How do I choose the right designer?

Think of it like choosing a good hairdresser.

We believe that the best design outcome is built on collaboration between Designer and Client, through communication, trust and respect.

We encourage prospective clients to view our Portfolio and social media as this will give a good idea of what we are about, our approach and our way of working.

The design process can often be lengthy, so having a great connection with your Interior Designer from day one is a very good idea.
